Civil rights hero and long-time Democrat elected to represent the City of Atlanta in the U.S. House, Rep. John Lewis says he is “still” Marching on Washington, 50 years later. On Wednesday’s 50th anniversary, the first African-American President of the United States will commemorate the historic event with remarks from the same spot at the Lincoln Memorial where black baptist Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech.
But the District of Columbia and nation President Obama will look out upon on August 18, 2013 bears no resemblance to the “Southern” city of Washington and country MLK addressed five decades ago.
In South Carolina, the great-grandchildren of the authors of secession and Fort Sumter (including their Democrat Governor Ernest Hollings) had only recently raised the Confederate battle flag atop its State House to protest school desegregation orders issued by federal courts. But after King’s speech inspired Democrat President Lyndon Johnson to give up his previous opposition and join Republicans in Congress to pass the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, de jure racial discrimination by government against blacks eventually came to an end. This conservative’s heart bleeds with Rush’s for the victims of the Democratic Party’s race-based policies.
I often ask blacks that I meet and get to know that still cling to the notion that most whites are racists; that most of Blacks problems are due to racist whites; and that they have a right to be liked by all white people…to join us. Join whites that walk out of the house everyday to a world that doesn’t like them very much either. Join us in the human race to try and build a good life of prosperity that is only possible if government shrinks from its control of our lives.
This former Democrat was won over to Rush while still a Democrat and still nearly ten years away from my eventual 2000 conservative epiphany due initially to his utter refutation of the notion that conservatives are racists. He epitomizes not only the perfect example of MLK’s content of character dream, but also the utterly Christian concept of how precious is each individual.
Couldn’t resist posting an example of the Wonder of Rush:
A properly blindfolded Lady Justice wouldn’t know if a corpus delicti looks like President Barack Obama’s imaginary son and wouldn’t weigh empathy in the scales of justice.
Unless one accepts the default assumption of “Civil Rights” industrialists, including the Attorney General-dubbed “anti-race cowards” law firm of Obama, Holder, Sharpton, Jackson, Lee & Nzinga, that White America (including so-called “white Hispanics”) circa. A.D. 2012 is a monolithic Jim Crow or that George Zimmerman’s heart, mind and soul is uniquely readable; there is no reason to suspect that the shooting of Trayvon Martin had anything to do with racism.
Rather than accept “Reverend” Jesse Jackson’s conclusion that “Blacks are under attack” in America and proceed to heed Cheif Magistrate Obama’s admonsihon to “search our souls”, why not first listen to the 911 tape, which reveals the following:
We’ve had some break-ins in my neighborhood and there’s a real suspicious guy. It’s Retreat View Circle. The best address I can give you is 111 Retreat View Circle.
This guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around looking about. [00:25]
OK, is he White, Black, or Hispanic?
He looks black.
Did you see what he was wearing?
Yeah, a dark hoodie like a gray hoodie. He wore jeans or sweat pants and white tennis shoes. He’s here now … he’s just staring. [00:42]
Apparently the 6’2″ teen wasn’t singing in the rain and, like Gene Kelly, apparently wasn’t up to no good either; but most folks reserve leisurely strolls for non-stormy weather. All things being equal, including skin pigmentation, walks in the rain sans umbrellas can be seen as “suspicious” on some level.
We can’t read the hearts of John Does, Trayvons or Zimmermans, but what we do know is that the race of the unarmed man was only brought up by the 911 dispatcher, not the armed neighborhood watch volunteer who ended up injured about his face and head, but alive, after his confrontation that he claims ended with an exercise in the right of self defense.
A mixed race Trayvon Martin is killed by a mixed race, and so far uncharged, George Zimmerman, and We the People are admonished to search our souls since the deceased looks like President Obama’s imaginary son.
Souls are searched.
Souls in Florida impanel a grand jury to determine if sufficient evidence exists to bring charges against a broken nosed-Zimmerman for the homicide and a U.S. Justice Department investigation is commenced to determine if Martin’s civil rights were violated.
Problem solved? Not according to the souls of New Black Panthers, certain non-Pastoral “Reverends”, and the director of “Do the Right Thing”.
New Black Panthers (only recently granted the right to wield billy clubs outside polling places on Election Days when Eric Holder, President Barack Obama’s attorney general, dropped voter intimidation charges against them) post kidnapping bounties for Zimmerman, aided and abetted by inaccurate Spike Lee tweets that force an unrelated elderly couple to flee their home, as Revs. (without portfolio) Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton claim “blacks are under attack” and call for an escalation of civil disobedience, respectively; and the nation’s Chief Magistrate says…nothing.
Democrats from President Obama on down just can’t give up toxic identity politics when trying to get elected, pass legislation, or even when dedicating a memorial to the nations’ preeminent civil rights leader.
But then again, Martin Luther King Jr. never left the Grand Old Party of Lincoln.
Can anyone remember the last public policy proposal by a Democrat that argued the merits of the proposal rather than irrelevant and untrue demonization of their opponents? I suspect it was President John F. Kennedy’s supply side tax rate cuts.
Oppose Democrat-sponsored legislation? You are racist.
Since then, we have been told that Republicans:
Now comes the Administration of the first African-American chief executive:
First, President Barack Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder perverts justice, and the name of the DOJ he heads, in refusing to enforce the color-blind Civil Rights Act, that Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and John Lewis et al risked life and limb to enact (with a greater percentage of Republican than Democrat votes, I might add), against billy club wielding “New Black Panthers” intimidating white voters outside Philadelphia polling places on Election Day 2010.
Next, the nation’s News Commentator-in-Chief called white Cambridge, Massachusetts cops “stupid” before inviting them to a White House “Beer Summit” after it was learned Gates-gate showed his good Harvard professor friend sought to play the Democratic Party’s favorite “race card” against law enforcement diligent in protecting a black man’s private property.
Instead, Republicans need to reach out to all voters, regardless of race, and aggressively make the economic and, especially the moral case against Democrats and for the GOP.
Since my 2000 conservative epiphany, after 18 years an activist and official of the Democratic Party, I have been adamant in encouraging my grand new party to reach out to Blacks and take the gloves off in defending themselves against Democrats’ false charges of bigotry and lack of concern for the poor.
I still favor all of the above and, inspired by recent Frederick Douglass Society discussions bemoaning the lack of an adequate reach out effort for Black votes (but mostly failing to describe how to so reach out) I want to offer a specific strategy below.
Leave Mob-like reach outs based on envy to the Democrats
But first, can’t we all agree that any voter, regardless of race, with the proper view of the goal of politics and the history of the past 45 years ought not need to be reached out to? By proper view, I mean citizens that understand that we elect chief executives and legislative representatives to enact and execute laws that work for the Common Good in keeping us safe and in maximizing Liberty, with the economic fruits same produces.
After all, at least a plurality of voters experienced Carter/Dem-super-majority malaise and the Reagan Recovery Newt and Clinton continued. Obviously, a majority of voters have been harmed by the policies of the majority Democrat Congress since 2007 and what President Barack Obama’s administration hath wrought over the last three years.
And can’t we also agree that we would not want to reach out to those that view party politics as a way to take from others in order to feather their own group’s nest, use government as a public sector jobs program, or have their envious motives acted out in the public square, except to say to those voters that they should be ashamed of themselves? I think so.
Reach out by refuting the Democrats’ claim to be the Party of the poor and the working man
Amorphous references to the Party of Lincoln’s need to reach out to Blacks due to their “unique culture and history” need to be made specific, especially given not just the abolitionist founding and pro-civil rights history of Republicans culminating in their majority support for the Civil and Voting Rights Acts of the mid-1960s; but also due to their governing history from 1965 through today.
Blacks have fared better, as have all Americans, under conservative and Republican policies. Moreover, given all the years of GOP presidencies and congresses since 1968, shouldn’t perennial Democrat warnings that Republicans will take food and checks from Blacks, widows and orphans fall on deaf ears? Obviously so.
I speak, of course, of President Barack Obama, his rapper and most leaders of the modern Democratic Party.
He seems to have a thing about killing police.
Common has written one “poem” in which he talks about carrying weapons to use against police warning, “They watching me, I’m watching them.”
He has written material lauding Assata Shakur, a Black Panther who was involved in a shootout that killed a New Jersey state trooper. After escaping from jail, she now lives in Cuba. He named his daughter after her.
And he has lauded Mumia Abu-Jamal, convicted of killing a Philadelphia police officer.
And what’s more, Common has spoken out against mixed marriage – something you would think would get the attention of President Obama. He has made anti-gay remarks and suggested he’d like to “burn a Bush,” a double entendre, the awful half of which appears to suggest killing George W. Bush.
So, how is the anti-Bush, anti-McCain, anti-Palin, brilliant Hope and Change agent working out for you, even since bin Laden died?
Has your, now 3-year’s dead, wallet yet been stimulated enough to motivate grooving to hip-hop, cop killer-praising “poetry” at the White House with Common’s fellow Trinity United-in-hatred of GD-KKK-Hate America Church, 20-year presidential and First Lady pew-parked butt parishioners? Yes, Common heard and loved the sermons that Obama claims not to have heard when his butt was parked there with Michelle for 20 years!
Today’s Democratic Party is not the party of JFK. It’s not even the party of the first Democrat Andrew Jackson.
After all, wouldn’t we prefer anti-Federal Bank so-called “white trash” to an anti-Boeing-plant-in-South Carolina holder of a Hawaiian long-form birth certificate, whose greatest claim to fame is that he waited nine months to let the Navy take out a terrorist who was o-for-the-last-nine years?
The beginning of the end of pathological Democratic Party separateness
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. – Luke 12:34 (ESV)
Before Barack Hussein Obama, there was Lyndon Baines Johnson and 45 years of white guilt/race card-playing victimization monogamy. In the third year after white folks purged the guilt and gave the first Hawaiian-born (and defended by $5 Million lawyers), mixed-race, 20-year Rev. Hate-America Wright pew-parked, President the nukes, major cuckolding has commenced:
No wonder he’s become such good pals with Al Sharpton.
President Obama’s approval ratings among black voters plummeted last month to their lowest levels ever, while his support among Hispanics took a tumble in the same period, according to a surprising new poll released yesterday.
Blacks continue to back him by a wide margin, with 85 percent of respondents saying they approved of him in the latest Gallup poll.
But that number dropped a hefty 5 percentage points from last month, marking the lowest rating among that core constituency that he’s had since taking office.
