As floor manager of the 1965 Immigration Act Kennedy promised the country

First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same. Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset. Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia.

In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think. (source: VDare)

He was wrong.

As one of the authors of the 1986 Amnesty Bill, he promised:

1986: “This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.” (Source: My Tend )

He was wrong and he lied.

As one of the authors of the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill of 2007 he has specified “deal breakers”, made no promises but let others make them, allowed them to lie about what the bill actually contains while he says:

“Now it is time for action. 2007 is the year we must fix our broken system.” (Source: The Corner )

And the Republican co-authors call him “awesome.” I’ve yet to determine what’s so awesome about him. Indeed, I’m beginning to think we should institute the 3 strikes rule for Members of Congress… screw the U.S. three times and you’re out.

Locusts swarm every 17 years. At least Kennedy swarms only every 21 years.  If we can just defeat this bill, he’ll go back to hibernation next year for another 21 years and maybe we can get something really constructive done.

Yesterday I read this article. I sincerely hope the article was satire.

The punitive rage directed at illegal immigrants grows out of a larger blindness to the manual labor that makes our lives possible: The touching belief, in the class occupied by Rush Limbaugh among many others, that offices clean themselves at night and salad greens spring straight from the soil onto one’s plate.

Where do these people come from?
