9/11

Today mark’s the 74th anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Navy by Imperial Japan at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, shortly after which President Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared December 7, 1941 a “Day of Infamy” and sought and got a congressional Declaration of War seeking “unconditional surrender.”

FDR’s (and later President Harry S. Truman’s) America mobilized and defeated not just Japan, but Hitler’s NAZI AXIS powers as well.

Over fourteen years ago, Islamist terrorists attacked the United States in New York City and Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2001, shortly after which President George W. Bush stood on the rubble that had been the Twin Towers and declared:

“I can hear you!” he declared. “The rest of the world hears you! And the people – and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.”

They soon heard President Bush seek and get a bi-partisan Authorization to Use Military Force (essentially a declaration of war against al Qaeda, affiliates and any entity giving them aid and comfort). After Shock & Awe, Usama bin Laden was soon driven from his safe haven in Afghanistan; the Taliban was removed from power; Saddam Hussein was replaced in Iraq by a regime friendly to the U.S.; Libya unilaterally surrendered its WMD; intel from waterboarding and other enhanced interrogation techniques used on illegal enemy combatants captured in Iraq and elsewhere was used to locate and capture UBL; and tens of thousands of terrorists trained to attack the U.S. homeland were killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.

There has been no second 9/11 thanks mostly to these and other actions.

Last month, the Islamic State that arose in an Iraq abandoned by President Barack Obama as part of his campaign promise to “end wars”, attacked Paris; and last week attacked San Bernardino, California. Last night President Obama spoke to the nation from the Oval Office, for only the third time of presidency, and essentially reiterated his “there’s nothing to see here but a JV team” mantra with a shift to gun control and climate change.

Obama can’t hear us and doesn’t intend to make terrorists hear us later, much less sooner. In fact, every time Islamic State hears Obama and the Democrats declare “climate change” as our number one threat, they are emboldened to kill more Americans and take more territory.

Obama started his political career in the Chicago living room of a Weather Underground terrorist, Bill Ayers and seems determined to finish it waging war on the weather, rather than Islamist terrorists, above ground, who he pretends don’t actually exist.

Obama is no Dubya, much less a Roosevelt. What does America need? At least…

“One man with courage [who can] makes a majority [willing to fight and defeat Islamic State].” – Andrew Jackson

What is the state of U.S. intelligence since President Obama succeeded President Bush in 2009?

Twelve years ago this morning Usama bin Laden’s al Qaeda carried out the deadliest attack against Americans on American soil since Americans turned on each other in the War Between the States. Thirty months ago, UBL was killed by U.S. Navy Seals in Pakistan. One year ago today, terrorists carried out the deadliest attack on a U.S. embassy since two were bombed in Africa in 1998. Christians, Jews, women, and freedom-loving Muslims await compassion from liberal Democrats who have showered their love on the former Soviet Union, Viet Cong, Sandinistas, Fidel Castro, Yassir Arafat, ‘Reformer’ Assad, Iranian Mullahs, and Sharia-imposing Muslim Brotherhoods.

Poor Americans desiring full-time work for middle class wages would also appreciate some consideration from the food stamp, green energy, gay marriage, amnesty for illegals, Obamacare, contraceptive and race-obsessed re-elected president and his Democratic Party, but I digress.

This admittedly former neo-con, but still U.S. national security hawk, could be receptive to action by our armed forces in Syria to deter and secure weapons of mass destruction given a variety of circumstances and scenarios. After the non-WMD attacks on our American homeland nearly 12 years ago, we considered the removal of serial-WMD-user Saddam Hussein in Iraq, the degrading of Iran’s nuclear program, as well as the elimination of the safe haven-for-al-Qaeda-and-Taliban nation-state in Afghanistan to be post-9/11-imperatives for the U.S. and the Free World generally.

Thanks to the pre-surge ‘stay the course’ persistence of President George W. Bush, congressional Republicans and Democrat-turned-Independent-Senator Joe Lieberman, Iraq was liberated toward a purple-fingered Third Way and Core al Qaeda and the Taliban were decimated. Continue reading

Yes, Osama bin Laden was killed under President Barack Obama’s watch, but does anyone think his presence as Commander-in-Chief deters any terrorist organization, state terror sponsors or even Russia?

As he was leaning toward Medvedev in Seoul, Obama was overheard asking for time – “particularly with missile defense” – until he is in a better position politically to resolve such issues.

“I understand your message about space,” replied Medvedev, who will hand over the presidency to Putin in May.

“This is my last election … After my election I have more flexibility,” Obama said, expressing confidence that he would win a second term.

“I will transmit this information to Vladimir,” said Medvedev, Putin’s protégé and long considered number two in Moscow’s power structure.

How war and want concentrates the mind on what matters most, ten years on

We miss our loved ones that died of natural causes before that Day and we well remember The Day America’s idyllic vacation from history ended as seminal even as we suffer under economic depression.

Many can’t afford Le Seuer peas, but this generic brand consumer still loves life and thanks God for the Texan that kept more alive when murderous Islamist evil visited our shores. In the wake of the Towers’ fall, the memory of Gore-ish multiple personalities faded for a time, as even Democrats saw the need for Daddy.

But President George W. Bush-driven safety and prosperity returned and with it Florida’s bloody shirt and late 90s WMD-amnesia, majority Democratic Party congressional votes for the War in Iraq notwithstanding. While the aroma of death still defined Ground Zero, it was self evident that Saddam could not taunt us from his safe terrorist state. But soon (albeit, after a certain Texan was re-elected Commander-on-Cheif) the aroma of Utopian Hope and Change animated and suddenly, keeping America free from Sea to Shining Sea took a back seat.

Last week, the son of Doris Kearnes Goodwin bemoaned that it was, ” too bad there had been no call (from President Bush) to all Americans to sacrifice and for unity? In the BushLied Era?

Maybe they wanted to practice the forced sacrifice of the American Dream in exchange for a Democratic Congress, TARP (Senator Obama voted for it and the two last budgets forced on Bush, which kind of puts what President Obama inherited into perspective, no?) ObamaCare and the stimulation of Labor Union dues for Democrats in Food Stamp Nation.

Life after September 11, 2001 and before the end of Great Depression II

But life goes on for those of us that remain. Before 911, we lost loved ones and it still hurts. Before there was an America to save from the liberals, there were 5000 years of history and a Christ that died for all lives. And as important as America and its standard of living are, the main point of all this is about us, each human being, and God.

OK–it’s time to just come out and say it. So-called liberals must be desperate, because–with regard to the Ground Zero mosque (as with so many other past cultural issues)–Barack Obama has sided against the American people–again. How do I know this to be true? Well, let’s just look at the steady stream of hysterical op-eds coming out of The New York Times slandering the American people as racist, Islamaphobic, unpatriotic dumb-dumbs. (Yes, I know, so-called liberals must be pretty desperate to play the patriotism card–I thought they thought that patriotism was gauche.)

For instance, last weekend, TV entertainer, Dick Cavett, wrote a column titled, Real Americans, Please Stand Up. (Did you get that? If you disagree with him about the Ground Zero mosque, you aren’t a “real American”.) In this op-ed, Cavett goes on to lament how “ashamed of us” he is, and he even goes so far as to write the following insanity–

As a war kid, I also heard an uncle of mine endorse a sentiment attributed to our Admiral “Bull” Halsey: “If I met a pregnant Japanese woman, I’d kick her in the belly.”

So now, not only am I not a “real American”, but I want to kick pregnant Japanese women in the belly.

Oh, but Mr. Cavett is not alone in his inane ramblings. On Sunday, theater critic, Frank Rich, wrote a column titled, How Fox Betrayed Petraeus, and on Monday cultural writer, Nicholas Kristof, wrote a column titled, Taking bin Laden’s Side.

Now, just from the titles of these op-eds alone, it should be painfully obvious what The New York Times is trying to do–i.e., “otherize” all opponents of the Ground Zero mosque as bigoted, anti-American rednecks with the worst possible motives. However, all of these columns were rich in over the top rhetoric, but deeply lacking in any information about the previous troubling, statements from Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf (the man behind the mosque), or the fact that that Iman Rauf has not been at all transparent about where the money’s coming from to build this mosque at Ground Zero. So, for flat out slandering the American people as anti-American bigots–and being disingenuous as to why they are really upset about the Ground Zero mosque–The New York Times deserves to wear “The Cone of Shame”. (H/T to Allahpundit of Hot Air.)

Recently on The O’Reilly Factor, a moderate Canadian Muslim woman by the name of Raheel Raza spoke out against building the now infamous Ground Zero mosque. (She has previously written about her feelings as well.) First of all, her performance on O’Reilly’s show tonight was gangbusters. She blew him away with her extremely well articulated reasoning for being against the building of the Ground Zero mosque. To be specific, Ms. Raza stated that, “It’s confrontational, it’s in bad faith, and it doesn’t set up any real dialogue or discussion on tolerance.” Then, she went on to further state that, “Bleeding heart, white liberals don’t understand the battle that moderate Muslims face and how radical Islam has grown since 9/11 because of political correctness.” She was so terrific and spot-on that she, literally, left Bill O’Reilly speechless–all he could respond with was, “What a great answer!”. (You can watch Ms. Raza’s entire interview in the embed below.)

Folks, what this woman did on O’Reilly’s show took guts–I’m not going to mince words. You know that she’s going to catch all kinds of hell when she gets back home from “tolerant liberals” who can’t tolerate any apostasy from their PC ideology. We need to give Ms. Raza, and moderate Muslims like her with the courage to speak out against radical Islam, as much support as possible. It’s the right thing to do.

Update:
This diary was originally posted a week ago in a Live Wire for The Minority Report, but it looks like I was quite prescient when I wrote that Raheel Raza was going to “catch hell” when she went back home to Canada. Yesterday, Kathy Shaidle of NewsReal reported that Ms. Raza has already received a threatening phone call from the property owner of the Ground Zero mosque. Again, now more than ever, the Raheel Razas of the Muslim world–with the fortitude to take a stand against radical Islam–need and deserve our support.
