Vision, Mission, and Strategy

Bumped for updates below. Please don’t overlook Susannah’s post as it is the newest of the two.

We have a Sims government.

I sincerely think our government is playing either Sims2 or Sims Societies to figure out what to do in their jobs.  In real life, the solutions they’re putting forth don’t work and will never work. Sims characters are made up of set variables programmed into the game. Real live human beings are much more diverse than a computer character will ever be; and their lives are a whole lot messier than even the least successful Sim.

For some background, we have a wildly popular president… at least according to the polls… and Congress’ approval ratings have risen a bit from their all time low. The highest government office in Sims2 is the Mayor but to acheive it, the Sims character has to excel in certain skills and be: wildly popular. So popular, that even when they make bad decisions, those decisions don’t seem to affect their careers all that much. It would take a very terrible mistake to get a Sim Mayor impeached.

For Sims Societies, you are the Mayor, or the government. To beat the odds of failing your city, you have to do a number of things and inevitably have to have such orgs as a Propaganda Ministry, Public Television, and a number of other government run entities. The balance between capitalism and government control is so far to the left that you have to build things that keep the people happy in their misery. Work is not something Sims like in either game. In the Sims Societies, you build things, called venues to keep the people happy. In the Sims2 game, you have to buy things and provide more fun time than anything else.

So we have this spendthrift government made of the same people who criticized Bush’s and the Republicans’ sprendthrift ways for the first 6 years of Bush’s tenure. And still they continue to buy even knowing that tomorrow, things can change and they could be bankrupt and things can be repossessed for nonpayment. But what the heck, it seems to keep the people happy.

Unless you take the Tea Parties into account, but that’s so unpatriotic now, isn’t it?  Things have changed in just a couple of short years.  Tea Party attendees are merely right wing extremists backed by the right wing Fox News Network.

One wonders if the government forgot to turn off free will in their games.  That would make sense in the light of their confusion about what the people want, outside those who still get their talking points from the mainstream media, that is. Fox News, like any other capitalist pig run business merely took advantage of a situation, where the entrenched MSM (Obama’s Propaganda Ministry) ignored it.

Or as Glen Beck said in yesterday’s program on Fox: We could be in the Matrix and need to choose between the blue or the red pill.

Update 2: It appears I was wrong and just goes to show how long it has been since I played the game. There is a download for Sims2 President Career. In addition, there are now character mods for our 44th president. Yes, indeedy, the more things change the more they stay the same.

I think you are spending too much time playing video games…..for the last eight years we have been living under the biggest ponzi scheme ever….no I am not against capitolism….no in fact that is what makes this country so great…..but just like driving your car there has speed limits and rules of the road….the deregulation let wall street, the banks, mortgage companies, credit and housing industries run the economy in the ground…..yes the spending is scary…but doing nothing will just continue to let the “capitolist” run crazy…..and we will continue down the sprial… you right wing extremist (I mean that as a term of endearment) …….buckle your seatbelts quit the back seat driving, have some input that says lets work on this together or other wise just get out of the way… your zonation friend said the bus is rolling…….

The revolution has been televised…..Black in America Baby………

Don’t know about SIMS, but I have a huge model railroad in the basment. Artificial society, plastic people and cows. Now, I don’t collect taxes from this
‘society’, but I sure spend a lot on it! 😆

Bruce, I haven’t played the Sims, either version in quite some time. In fact, I got bored with it round about Open for Business because it settled into a “everybody acts alike.”

Aside from that, I’d like to know exactly what ponzi scheme you are talking about… in detail with links, please.

I would also like to know exactly what deregulation you’re talking about, also in detail with links.

If you can’t do that, then I’m going to assume that you’re just another leftist idiot parroting the MSM/Liberal talking points. I know, part of you is smarter than that but there are times when you have to remind me, especially when you come out with comments like the above.

  • StephC says:

BB, I don’t charge taxes, either in those games. They’re preset in the programming or nonexistent. But yeah, I paid for the games and the expansion packs so I’m out of pocket, too.

Especially considering how bored I am with them now. 😆

So let’s start with a definition….Ponzi scheme…A fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to investors from their own money or money paid by subsequent investors rather than from any actual profit earned………..

Now here is how it was done…..the banks/mortgage companies figured out how to make money by taking the loans they had given to home-buyers bundle them up and sell them to investment firms/insurance companies….remember it used to be that when you got a home loan from a bank or mortgage company your loan would stay with that company but loans started being bundled and sold..and those investment firms and insurance companies made even bigger bundles and sold them to bigger investment/insurance companies…..this allowed the first tier banks/mortgage companies to make more loans…..which also allowed builders and “home flippers” to artificially inflate the price of homes…that’s why a builder could sell a home for $100,000 in phase one of his development and then sell the same house for $300,000 in phase 3 of the same development….and a flipper could sell a home for a 30% profit within 6 months….the banks in turn were more than willing to loan at these inflated prices because they just bundled and sold them….they also wrote these loans that had ballooning interest rates in 5 to 7 years telling the perspective buyer they better get in now because home prices will just keep going up and they will miss being able to own a home…and besides they said you will never have to worry about the inflated rates because most people move or refinance within 5 years… the banks/mortgage companies/investment firms bundled, sold and inflated until the ponzi bubble burst…….and the deregulation question…there were regulations which kept the banks in the banking business the investment firms in the investment busines and the insurance firms in the insurance business but when deregulation allowed them all to get into the mortgage business that created the problems because they could operate with no boundries,,,,,,

And I want you to know am a little hurt that you called me a….”just another leftist idiot parroting the MSM/Liberal talking points”

The revolution has been televised…….Black in America Baby

Yeah? Can’t be all that hurt since you still didn’t bother to put any links to back up your talking points.
