Matthew 18:21-35<blockquote>The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant
21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"
22Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[f]

23"Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents[g] was brought to him. 25Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

26"The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' 27The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.

28"But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii.[h] He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.

29"His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'

30"But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.

32"Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' 34In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.

35"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."

There is nothing wrong with 'live and let live'. It is sort of like the Golden Rule. I guess politics has shortened the Rule a bit with 'do unto others.'

Doesn't matter. The politicians on either side is going to fix nothing and will make things worse. There is a point where we'll hit rock bottom but when that point is reached, it's going to be anarchy, not utopia.

I'm of the live and let live philosophy. I can forward my views and try to persuade people that there's a better way but in the end, it's their choice, not mine. But they're not letting me live. Instead I'm being herded and forced into something I want no part of. The only way to achieve their utopia is to destroy people like me. Maybe not today or tomorrow or next year, but one day that will be their conclusion.

You don't like the terms commie, fascist, socialists applied so what do you want to call it? Does it matter what it's called when the results will be the same?

"This country produces nothing anymore." Amen.
Basically that IS the problem. It started way way back in the 60s and there are many causes and many blames. Out this way, our first clue was when logs were exported to the far east and came back as plywood...cheaper plywood than we could make. Now, you tell me: how can shipping raw logs across the ocean- then shipping plywood all the way back be cheaper than simply making it here? I figure there is plenty of blame: labor wanted more, CEOs wanted more, shareholders wanted more, EPA & OSHA drove up business costs.....and WE preferred cheap to American made. Now, how to fix THAT....I really don't know. But we better. Personally, I have always tried to buy 'made in America'. Now I have two dodges in the garage....and Chrysler is going down the tubes!
Not complaining though, after hearing your problems.
I hope things turn around soon and ya'll can thrive.

BB, I get called stupid all the time by the so-called oh-so-tolerant left. I'm a hillbilly so my IQ automatically is in the toilet. I'm a conservative and that warrants a few more points off the IQ already in the toilet. And I didn't call you stupid. I said: If you think you are.

Everything, according to the people in power in Washington is too big to fail; big business, big politicians, Obama... literally everything. It's okay to destroy the country as long as those don't fail. Look to who is propping up who and you know where the money went. Obama and the Democrats are propping up unions over business. They have nationalized the financing industry. They're set to put such onerous taxes on energy that it will soon be nationalized too. Control the money and the energy, you control the people. You're willing to let that happen. I'm not.

I was against the bailouts from the get go including the one back in September. Businesses fail because they did business poorly. That's life. When the government steps in to bail them out, they're automatically shutting new and better businesses out.

Where did the money go, you ask? Look to the people profiting by this. The politicians, George Soros, Warren Buffet, and others. The hedge fund lawyers and the like. And they're all robbing us blind while they promise nothing in return. We'll never see a penny back from this. Your kids will never see a penny back nor will their kids' kids.

This country produces nothing anymore. Entrepeneurialship has been limited to the services areas. Innovation and invention has gone overseas. We falling into the same rut as what we had with Nixon and Carter.

When you can't afford to heat your home with electricity, oil, or natural gas while being told at the same time you can't burn wood or coal, then what? You're the one who thinks Obama and the Democrats are going to fix this, so tell me how they're going to do that?

Look what you did: defined me in terms of what you believe. We need to get beyond 'the other side is stupid', 'they are led around by the nose', 'they are
commie, fascist, ism, ism ism'. My goodness, ya'd think there were two species of humans anymore.
Were I to simply insult the 'other side', I could note:
"There is no perfect world, or perfect country. There is no such thing as utopia, not on this earth." that is
'dead in spirit'! But, I agree...many of us are suffering hard times; the likes of which most of us have not seen. What makes me ponder is not so much the
$3 trillion we spend trying to reverse the situation, but the $trillion in personal home equity and $7trillion which disappeared from the stock market. Since business got us here, I cannot follow the logic that business can get us out. (and you should know by now, IMO there is a huge difference between business
and BigBiz...they are totally different.

Okay, I suppose I can buy that, but, you know, when words and actions don't match, sooner or later, everybody is screwed.

Today marks Obama's 100th day in office. The Democrats now have a filibuster proof majority. From here on out, they own everything that is done lock, stock, and barrel. Essentially, they've owned it since 2006 but they still made excuses. Excuses won't hold after yesterday.

It's all theirs... and yours.

No, I'm 'not dead in spirit'. Just disagree with the conservative movement. In fact after 28 awful years of GOP in the last 40....I kinda feel reborn..
