Paul, I know but they'll get away with it because no one wants to really challenge them of those who could do something about it. We have some fine conservatives in Congress but there are just too few of them at the moment and they have to work against members of their own party who would rather be more like the Democrats than Republicans.

BB, I didn't care for Alexander Hamiltion when I was in American History classes. Oh, he had a few good points but he had a lot of cockamamie ones, too.

I have no idea when it will drop off BB. I refuse to take any internet test that requires an email address.

"which is something FDR started, you know"
Actually, 'government subsidizing failing business' goes back at least as far as the railroads. They were given alternating huge acreages upon which to lay their track. A. Hamilton was a big backer of gov't as a tool for big business. Veering way off, my spam seems to have peaked at 1500 a day and is starting to taper off. When will it get down to a normal 25 a day so I can try that IQ test again?

AC, I just fished your comment out of moderation. Don't know how I missed it before but am sorry that I did. Layoffs are not fun, to be sure, but those are expected in his industry. What happened to him, however, was worse than just being fired.

How did I tie it to the left? Well, what they did and how they did it. Hubby got them out of a bind but instead of rewarding him for it, they fired him. On top of that, they have touted their age and book knowledge as more important than anything else. Isn't that why we're supposed to be supporting Obama?

There is no true capitalism in this country, not with government intervention and subsidizing failing businesses... which is something FDR started, you know, during the Great Depression. If you understand nothing else about capitalism, you should understand that.

I don't blame Bush's deficit on Carter. I blame Carter for Carter's nightmares of 29% inflation, extremely bad foreign policy, and a host of other stupidities. Nope, Bush's deficit is, in part ,because of a long mismanaged war... not that it was a wrong war, mind, just mismanaged... and greedy politicians with their stupid pork barrel spending and pet projects that have absolutely nothing to do with governance.

No, my liberal friend, Bush is not and has not been perfect. However, neither has he been anywhere near as bad as the left make him out to be. But then, Reagan wasn't perfect either. None of them are, no matter what party affiliation they claim. But Reagan... he believed in this country like none have believed in this country for so long, most of us had forgotten what it was like to be believed in.

That's why there are so many crying for another Reagan. This country needs a leader that believes in it. Maybe McCain does believe in it enough. I don't know but I'm sick and tired of all the people claiming to love this country yet do nothing but criticize it.

If such happened one on one between two people in a relationship it would be called an abusive one. Why is it that people don't see it the same way when it's the government being the abuser? How can you lead a country that you don't love and don't believe in?

"It’s just that one side can’t always blame the other side when the blaming side is at fault" Oh, sure they do. Talk to any conservative and blame Bush's deficit on Jimmy Carter...they agree to a person! I might still be Republican if it wasn't for Nixon..now Rove. Still got my I Like Ike button. Whatta guy.
