Dumb Americans

At about 2:48 into this video, ostensibly about the new movie Religulous, Bill Maher makes a statement: “… Americans are too dumb to be governed.” He further states, in summation, that all you have to do is package it just right and people will buy anything. Unfortunately, he’s right.

My initial response was he was wrong because it offended me and I try hard to have faith in the American people. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized he’s right. The majority of Americans will buy anything as long as it’s packaged just right. What the left is selling is the same old tired failed marxist policies they’ve been selling for decades upon decades. They just packaged it differently and called it new and improved in the form of Obama. Here’s a guy who talks well while the only things he’s really saying that should matter, you don’t even hear because of the way he’s talked it up.

How many times have you gone to a grocery store and bought a product because it has this new packaging and said new and improved only to find the only thing new about it was the packaging? How about Microsoft Windows? What’s so great about Vista that XP can’t handle and actually does some things worse? The price and the packaging. But you gotta have it because it’s new and improved, right? This is marketing 101.

By the way, the big wig of Microsoft, Bill Gates, is also an avid leftist.

Take away all Obama’s trappings that have hyped him into rock star/cult  status and what do you have? The same old tired failed marxist policies the left has been trying to sell for decades upon decades. There is nothing there but that. Everything Obama promises to do has been done before with disastrous effects, so what makes it different this time? The packaging.

Unfortunately, there’s a huge swath of America that really is that dumb.  As for the fact that Bill Maher, an avid leftist made the remark. Well, the left won’t care. I doubt it even registered with them because they are that dumb. Yeah, I said it, so there.

If I’m wrong, prove it.  Prove to me that his policies aren’t the same old tired failed marxist policies of the past. Prove to me he’s not just an empty suit trying to force feed us marxism in a pretty package. Not by telling me I’m stupid or calling me a bunch of infantile names but by actually proving that Obama’s somebody worth voting for outside the love affair with the MSM; that you’re not that dumb.

Have you noticed that whatever our politics, we always think the other side consists of dumb voters?

  2. hillbilly Says:

Yeah, but that’s besides the point. A “water carrier” for your party is calling you dumb.

    I’m just agreeing with him.

  3. BB-Idaho Says:

A water carrier for your party is praising Corsi’s book on Obama and brags of the Swiftboat vets and Corsi’s ‘Unift for Command’ about Kerry. But, the record and the facts are clear..Kerry WAS in VN, Kerry DID win bronze star, silver star and purple hearts. Corsi weasled out of the military because of ‘hereditary eczema’. Yet, his minions hang on his every word. Like he even has a clue. *sigh*

  4. hillbilly Says:

BB, I answered that one over on the other blog. Regardless of what Corsi is personally, that book had to be vetted intensively by a battalion of lawyers before it ever hit print.

Speaking of Kerry, he was another “package” for the same old tired failed marxist policies. I remember how everybody went ga-ga over him during the 2004 elections. I honestly don’t know if the swiftboats really had that much to do with Kerry losing.

    HB,
I know you guys are smarter than to follow the ugly party line and call us other 50% marxists. Democrats are no more marxists than the GOP is fascist. We are, after all, all Americans. It is sad when we start to believe the name-calling and far sadder when it gets people elected.

  6. hillbilly Says:

BB, you might not be but a very great number of those supporting Obama are. In fact, other than healthcare, I haven’t really seen much that you do want from the Democratic president candidate.

These others, though, don’t care about anything he’s offering or what it means. They bought the packaging and don’t really care what’s inside.

It’s not about ideology, it’s about research. Even if I wasn’t a conservative, but more moderate or even slightly left leaning, I couldn’t vote for Obama. I know quite a few Democrats who won’t be. He’s too, too, too far left for me to even contemplate… no matter what kind of history others think it will make.

To use our taxes to build bridges and highways in THIS country, rather than Iraq, makes sense to me.
Not only would it help traffic jams, but both companies and workers would be making money. In what way is that marxist? To get our kids to college at less than
$20,000 a year seems like a good idea.,,or soon we really will be dummies. To buy our rocket propellant ingredients from the US rather than China strikes me as logical. Is that marxist? True marxism died when the Kulaks were sent to Siberia and collective farms were started..about seventy five years ago. Fascism died in a Berlin bunker. We throw the words around, but they are at best polemical, at worst, harmful.

  8. hillbilly Says:

hmmm… didn’t Clinton promise those things, too? How many actually got done? Where did the money go since they didn’t go there?

$20,000 a year? What are you paying for? Many states have education lotteries now. What about them? The one here… there’s such a surplus now it’s pathetic because kids can’t make the grades to qualify for them… the education system spits them out but they still can’t muster the grades or scores needed to obtain a Hope scholarship. One more thing, what’s the point of a $20000 a year education that might, at best, be worth a high school diploma considering how devalued a bachelor’s degree has become? What if they could make a good living without going to college for eight years? Education doesn’t make them smart, it just gives them the illusion of it. Intelligence denotes ability, not how much education you have.

Roads… you know, we’ve poured billions into the roads here… they’re still not fixed because the companies doing the work aren’t accountable enough to finish on time. Instead of helping traffic, lanes are blocked off forever and a day for the construction crews that never finish the job.

Remember the levees in New Orleans? Money was appropriated to work on them and the state syphoned it off for other pet projects. They got caught with their pants down in Katrina and tried to blame it on everybody but themselves but they got caught. However, the MSM covered it up as fast as they could. I’m still looking for that video archived somewhere… it’s going to be somewhere I know. I just haven’t found it yet. I hope I find it before the elections to show the real Mary Landrieu.

I’ve already agreed with you another time that we should start easing up on the aid for infrastructure that we give to Iraq so we won’t go into that one again.

Marxism didn’t die 75 years ago. It’s alive and well; Castro’s Cuba, Chavez’s Venezuela to name a couple. Kruschev warned us many years ago that while we’d never accept it labeled as such we’ll swallow every bit of it under another name. Slowly but surely he’s being proven right.

If JFK were still alive, he’d be a Republican. The Democratic party is not the party of JFK and hasn’t been for a long long time now.

I was raised in a Democrat home. I’m considered a black sheep because I won’t register as a Democrat… not that I’m expected to vote Democrat… I’m just supposed to register as one.

The Democrats of today, the leftists, though… they aren’t Democrats, they just use the name because they know they can’t do what they want to do to this country under their real party name… just like Kruschev promised.

We’re doing a good job of converting one another,
    huh?

Your mention of Bill Gates is interesting. For a died-in-the-wool practicer of ruthless capitalism at its finest, he does have some feel for Ma Earth and the downtrodden (filthy leftist!) But, his personal political contributions are fairly scattered between GOP and dem candidates. As you have noted elsewhere, we
liberals are dumb, so perhaps that is his problem :?:
    RE: http://www.campaignmoney.com/biography/bill_gates.asp

  12. hillbilly Says:

Ol’ Bill is going to support whomever butters his bread best but when you here him talk about societal and cultural matters, you here much of the same rhetoric you’d here from those I dub marxists.

  13. BB-Idaho Says:

You will be happy to hear that you are right: us liberals are dumb. After reading on the PEW surveys that libs are the most highly educated group of Americans, I rushed around the i-net to find a free IQ test, thinking
to corroborate my finding. Upon completing the test,
I was required to put in my e-mail. I got no results, but in the two days since, I have received 1,128 spams..
I may be dumb, but I won’t try THAT again!

  14. hillbilly Says:

BB, you’re not nearly as liberal as you try to pretend to be. There used to be such creatures known as conservative Democrats (otw JFK Democrats) which is about where I’d place you.

  15. BB-Idaho Says:

    HB,
Say, I’m still getting 1,000 spams a day from trying to prove how smart us libs are. You sure there ain’t a
    vast right-wing conspiracy?

  16. hillbilly Says:

BB, sometimes the only way to get rid of that kind of spam is to get rid of your email address and make a new one, then refuse to fill in those stupid surveys.

The spam is the main reason for most of those surveys and it’s not a right wing or left wing conspiracy. It’s marketing. They make them cute and interesting but you pay a larger price for them later because you don’t really see the fine print that you agree to when you give them your email address.

Parallels to this article? Yeah… in spades,
