As things stand right now, I'm completely with you on this. After all my years in the GOP, it pains me terribly too.

No, not really. He's fairly conservative on a lot of issues but the most important ones, he and I have a pretty big differences of opinion. He's a lot like Ron Paul if that gives you any idea.

There are all kinds of candidates in all kinds of parties and I doubt any one of them is worth consideration. However, there are going to be some down ticket candidates that I need to help stay in office or help replace so I have to vote to help them. I believe it's Alexander who is up for reelection in the Senate. I ain't crazy about him but he's not absolutely terrible either. He's fairly conservative... used to be more... but still not bad.

I saw that Bob Barr decided to enter the race on the Libertarian ticket. Is that a reasonable alternative to you?

I doubt I'd be any happier. I have this funny feeling that we need to go through what we're going through now to get back on the right track. However, just because I have that feeling doesn't mean I want to help it along.

One wonders if McCain is uncomfortable with the right wing. That wing treated him quite shabbily in the 2000
GOP primaries. Now that wing denies (Coulter, et. al.)
It may be the distrust is too deep...and too mutual. Then again, Nixon, Reagan and Bush never reallly delivered what the far right wanted either, I mean
as a liberal, I survived those years  Not that
they didn't intend and try, but the country is basically
centrist, a solid object that both left and right bang up against. I noticed on some blog a conservative was lamenting that Thompson, Guiliani, Romney should have been 'men enough' to have Hillary's staying power. Were they still in, you would likely be happier!
